Dear colleagues!
Greetings
on behalf of the staff of Azerbaijan Public TV and Radio
Broadcasting Company!
I am confident
that just like any guest visiting our country you will
fall in love with Azerbaijan and always remember the
days you spent here. Washed by the Caspian Sea on one
side and surrounded by mountains on the other, Azerbaijan
has gorgeous nature. You can find nine out of eleven
climatic zones in this wonderful land.
Azerbaijan
is one of the world’s centres of ancient culture. You
can take a trip to Gobustan, a place with remnants of
one of the most ancient of all known human cultures,
travel to Ganja, the motherland of world-known poet
Nizami Ganjavi, or tour the historical towns and monuments
located on the Great Silk Road. An ancient pearl of
the East, Baku – the capital of Azerbaijan – is world-famous
for its oil and can be compared with the most developed
cities of Europe. No wonder that more than 70 thousand
foreign citizens live in Baku. After all, Baku is a
city of emotional tranquility. The rule of ethnic and
religious tolerance in the country creates equal opportunities
for each citizen. Catholic, Orthodox and Armenian churches,
synagogues and Buddhist temples exist in Azerbaijan
side by side with mosques and function not as museums
but as places of worship.
Azerbaijan
is also developing as a tourist destination. Icherisheher
(Old City) surrounded by fortress walls is as much ancient
as Baku is modern and beautiful.. The city’s numerous
parks and theatres, sports and leisure complexes, hotels
and restaurants create abundant opportunity to have
a good time. As for Azerbaijani cuisine, it is so delicious
and so rich that people prefer to have business meetings
at dinner table.
Public TV
cameras try to capture all the beauty and uniqueness
of our country and broadcast these to the entire world.
In my view, we as television professionals are lucky
to live and work in a country with such an ancient history,
rich culture, and benevolent people. It is virtually
impossible to present all this beauty via TV and radio.
I am sure the couple of days you will spend in Azerbaijan
will create numerous positive impressions and these
in turn will influence your decision to visit our country
again and again.
Respectfully,
Ismail Omarov
Director General of Public TV and Radio Broadcasting
Company (Ictimai TV)
